Now that the Jacksonville Quilt Show is behind us we begin moving into our fall schedule.
The first thing we have planned is SSS!
That's Scissor Sharpening Saturday and it's Saturday, October 10th from 10:00 to 2:00.  We have needed this service for so long!  S&R Sharpening will help you get your edge back!  They will sharpen your scissors, pinking shears and knives while you enjoy the air conditioning of our shop.  There may even be a sale or two going on at the same time.  So please save the date, Saturday, October 10th.
~~~~~~~~~~~
We are starting up some of our fall clubs.  See below for details on The Mod Squad, The Paper Dolls and the Kim Diehl Whatnots Club.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tomorrow is the last day to vote for your favorite Shop Challenge entry.
It is also the End of the Bolt, End of the Month Sale.
 (NOTE:  Due to the tardiness of this newsletter, we will have the sale on both Wednesday, September 30th, and Thursday, October 1st, so everyone has time to get here!)
When you purchase the remaining fabric on any bolt, you receive a 30% discount.  It can be half a yard, or 15 yards.  It doesn't matter.  Simply buy it all and you get 30% off!
Also, for your shopping pleasure, we have displayed the beautiful colors of fall on our front counter.  Pick up a few for your stash at 30% off.  You don't even have to buy the whole bolt of fall fabric to get this discount.  The Fall Sale is alson on Wednesday, September 30th and Thursday, October 1st.

Remember, if you didn't get your Country Quilts and Bears Row by Row kit, you can still call and reserve it today for purchase AFTER November 1st.  They are $9.00 each.  Don't dilly-dally.  Supplies are limited!
   We just received a new shipment of License Plates - we can sell those to you right now.  If you want to purchase one, for $5.00 each, please call and reserve yours today and then you can pick it up at your leisure.  Or, simply stop in and get yours now.  Again, supplies are limited and I wouldn't dilly-dally where these are concerned, either!

Classes and Clubs
Mod Squad with Susan Freebery

The Mod Squad
The first Saturday of every month, starting October 3rd, The Mod Squad will descend on Country Quilts and Bears.

This is a club for Modern quilt lovers or wannabes!  We will be working through Tula Pink's fantastic book, 100 Modern Quilt Blocks.  You will love this book,  the 6 ½" blocks are sorted by shape, and numbered only - enjoy adding your own name and meaning to the blocks you make.  We will be starting with Block 1 and working our way through - make all of them, or just a few.  It's up to you!
Marilyn has generously agreed to minimize the cost for this club - your entrance fee will be as follows:
1st Month:  Purchase the book, 100 Modern Quilt Blocks
2nd Month onward:  Purchase of any 2 fat quarters you want!  That's it!  No class fees, and who doesn't need a few more fat quarters?
We can't wait and are all busy choosing our fabrics.  What will you come up with ?
 Oh - one more thing - you don't have to make these blocks out of modern fabrics!  Oh no!  They are so cute and would be marvelous in any style fabric from repros to seasonal.  Simple piecing, lots of choice - this is a book for beginners and advanced stichers alike.

It's going to be a fun Saturday Sewing club, and a nice chance to hang with other quilters and do something different.  If you can't make it for October, no worries.  You really won't miss anything.  We will see you in November!

The Mod Squad will meet the first Saturday of the month,
Saturday, October 3rd
From 10-2:00
Call today to reserve your book and chair!

A Note about The Mod Squad:  The intention for this club is that it take the form of a stitch-along rather than a classic class.  Susan will help us get started each session, but then we will be stitching along together and helping each other.

Kim Diehl's Whatnot Club with Becky or Linda

Henry Glass Fabrics and Kim Diehl have teamed up to bring you a new club featuring miniature quilts stitched from Kim Diehl's newest fabric line, Gathering Baskets.  Each month you will receive a pattern to complete a miniature quilt.
Starting in October, the group will meet the 2nd Friday or the 2nd Saturday of each month.  Becky Madasz will teach on Fridays, and Linda Zebrowski will teach on Saturdays.
WHAT IS IT?
It's a 6 month program.  Each month club members receive a new pattern of Kim Diehl's that is not yet on the market.
At the club meeting, patterns will be distributed.  Helpful hints will be given by teachers, Becky or Linda.
WHEN IS IT?

Friday, October 9th
Saturday, October 10th

Paper Dolls with Susan Freebery

The Paper Dolls
Love that name!
We are c alling all of you quilters who say you can't paper piece!
Susan's method for paper piecing is simple, logical and it WORKS!  Continuing on from her very popular Basic Paper Piecing Class, we are starting a club to explore this technique further.  Each month we will work on a different skill, building on what we have already learned.  Very soon we will be working on some pretty ambitious patterns!  Start looking through all those patterns you have passed by because you thought you couldn't do it...you should pick them up again and hear us tell you that,  "YES you CAN!"

Month 1 (October):  Pickle Dish  - Yes we can do it!  In Month 1 we will work on the wedges.
 Month 2 (November), we will be setting the arcs, and finishing the block.

Again, this is a club with a minimal fee - $5 each class to cover the cost of club materials, handouts, etc.

A Note about Paper Dolls:  The intention for this club is that it take the form of a stitch-along rather than a classic class.  Susan will help us get started each session, but then we will be stitching along together and helping each other.

The Paper Dolls will be meeting the 3rd Saturday of each month, beginning October 17th.
