Greek Festival Fills Labor Day Weekend with Good Food, Folk Dancing, Live Music, and Family Fun

Brought to you by the George Varouh Cretan Club of Cleveland , the 6th Annual Greek Festival kicks off this Friday at 11 a.m. West 168th Street from Lorain Avenue south to Albers Avenue will be closed for festival use. Free admission means there is no charge to take in the enticing sights, sounds, and aromas daily to 11 p.m. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The festival ends at 9 p.m. on Monday, Labor Day evening.

Join in celebrating the Mediterranean Island of Crete, by purchasing authentic Greek food, including lamb roasted on the spit, Greek roasted chicken dinners, and traditional specialties like gyro, moussaka, flaming saganaki, spanakopita, Greek salad, baklava, and more. Authentic Greek wines and beers will be available, too. Enjoy dining in the large covered tents or inside the air conditioned hall.

DJ Alex Dada will keep things lively from 2 until 6 p.m. daily under the main tent. Then musicians will perform in both the dining hall and outside. Daily, Dimitri will entertain patrons in the main hall with his unique long-necked plucked lute, and Stigma will electrify the night under the main tent until closing. In addition, Greek troupes from both the Cretan Center and Greek churches perform a mix from lively leaping dances to the more serene semi-circle stepping styles.

All major credit cards are accepted. For additional information, call John Elliot at 440-336-4960 or Nick Kariotakis at 440-829-9565.
