The Book-Mobile has arrived with the first round of the best books for fall patterns and inspiration. Here are some highlights . . .
Millamia has some of the best patterns around . . . the books we got are full of great projects for kids and adults alike!!
And you all know how I feel about our furry friends . . . I can't wait to knit up some of the great patterns for my crazy canines . . . if your best friend is a bunny or a hamster . . . have no fear . . . this book has something for you tooo ;).

We got some great new colors in Be Sweet's Bamboo too . . . along with some irresistible patterns. Purl Girl, JoAnn, has already started two of them . . .
And check out these fabulous kits from Appalachian Baby that we found at TNNA. The patterns are soooo sweet, and the yarn is even sweeter - a super soft, organic cotton that any baby would love to be wrapped up in! We especially love the bootie kits . . knit them up and repackage them in the beautiful box they come in to give them to your favorite mom-to-be! We have samples of all of the kits knit up in the store so come see and feel for yourself!

Projects of the Week

JoAnn scouted an amazing asymmetrical sweater designed by Brunello Cucinelli when she was shopping. We all fell in love with it and decided we had no choice but to come up with our own version for you. Why spend over $1,000 to buy it at Neiman's when you can make it yourself for a fraction of the cost and still strut the style!! A perfect piece for all seasons . . . you can wear it alone in summer and layer for fall . . . either way super chic!!

And here's our version . . . We used Prism Layers Stuff, Lang Sol Degrade, Tahki Ripple and Aslan Trends Litoral - all in shades of green. Green's not your color?? No worries . . . we've packaged great yarn choices for every color of the rainbow. Come see which you love best!
Looking for that quick but gorgeous project to spring you into fall?? Try this Lace and Cable Capelet made out of Berroco's Peruvia Quick. I knit it up in 2 nights and was so excited with the results. Bay Time Activites

The Knitted Purl is excited to be part of Bay Time Activities. The BTA is a collective of establishments in Oyster Bay-East Norwich area that have joined together to form a group that provides varied entertainment in the area. Hoping to find the perfect activities to enrich and entertain your children this summer . . . Look no further . . . it's all at your fingertips in the BTA directory. You can pick up your copy at our shop next week. The website will be launching soon too, so stay tuned.
The Knitted Purl's Fiber Camp is part of the program. We will be offering day camp sessions for children ages 5 and up. Programs include "Beginner Knitting" for ages 7 - 13, "Fun with Finger Knitting" for ages 5 - 7, "American Girl Club" for children 8 - 10, and "Parent-and-Child" workshops for all ages.
Learning to knit and crochet is fun , creative, and benefits children in so many ways. With a plethora of fun projects and yummy yarns to pick from, kids stay interested and focused in learning how it all works! Doctors and teachers alike have all noted improvement in fine motor coordination, reading, math, comprehension and critical thinking and problem-solving in children who learn the craft!
