THE INTERACTIVE TOTEM POLE SCULPTURES
May 2011 Eclectic Music Festival & Art Walk
On May 7th, The South Pasadena Arts Council (SPArC) joined forces with the Chamber of Commerce to present the annual Eclectic Music Festival and Art Walk. During the festival, SPArC invited the public to put on their creative hats to help create a series of painted sculptures called "3-D Graffiti". (After the festival the South Pasadena School Administration asked to display the totems in front of their offices on El Centro!)
SPArC hosted a reading of
"South of Delancey"
a play created by SPArC member & South Pasadena resident Karen Sommers.
As a result of that reading a financial backer was found and the South Pasadena Fremont Centre Theatre produced the World Premiere Production to rave reviews and an extended run in 2011.
BRASIL BRAZIL "Back to School"
Labor Day 2011, Concert Celebration
In concert with the South Pasadena Public Library and the Los Angeles County Arts Commission, SPArC presented "Back to School" Labor Day 2011, Concert Celebration. The free concert featured Brasil Brazil an invigorating, magical experience comprised of internationally renowned performers.
October 2011 ART CRAWL
SPArC Director Howard Spector worked with the South Pasadena Chamber Of Commerce to help facilitate the first "Arts Crawl" for the local community. It was a huge success with music and art everywhere you went! Kudos to the South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce. We hope this will be an ongoing project to help promote the local artistic venues and stores. Look for SPArC involvement in 2012 ART CRAWLS.
Rotary of South Pasadena Grant
SPArC received a grant from the South Pasadena Rotary Club to help with the expenses of another Temporary Gallery when a vacant space again becomes available! Keep us posted if you know of any available locations. So SPArC continues to grow and evolve!
