A note from our friends at Notre Dame

Notre Dame Welcomes
Professor Pól Ó Dochartaigh
Registar and Deputy President of the
National University of Ireland, Galway.
Friday, September 23 at 3:00 PM
McKenna Hall Room 100

Prof Ó Dochartaigh will discuss six autobiographies, written by, among others, a Belfast-born President of Israel (Chaim Herzog), a Cork-born literary editor and novelist (David Marcus), and a Dublin-born Zionist IRA man (Robert Briscoe). These works contain significant reflections on what it means to be both Irish and Jewish and his talk will consider their accounts in the context of ever-evolving Irish identity.

Sponsored by the Department of History, the Department of German and Russian Languages and Literatures, and the Centre for the Study of Languages and Cultures at Notre Dame University, the lecture will be chaired by Prof. Tzvi Novick, Abrams Chair of Jewish Thought and Culture. It takes place at 3pm in McKenna Hall Room 100.
