An Evening at Global Café: Photos with Big Al

Students and families are invited to this evening of activities with The University of Alabama's mascot, Big Al. Bring your camera and join us for this fun event with family and friends.  Free and open to the public.

Inclusive Campus Breakfast

Each month at the breakfast, students, faculty, and staff gather to explore new ideas and hear updates about efforts devoted to making UA more inclusive and welcoming. On Wednesday, October 5, the workgroups will include but are not limited to the following:
  • Inclusive Classrooms Teaching Practices
  • Student Diversity and Dialogue Initiatives
  • Native American Heritage Month Collaborative Programming (for November 2016)
  • African American History Month Collaborative Programming (for February 2017)
  • Common Book Experience for 2017-18

Cuba:  Histories of the Present Reception

Ferguson Student Center Art Gallery

Join Dr. David LaFevor in the Ferguson Student Center Art Gallery for the opening exhibit of his photography documenting daily life in Cuba over the last 10 years. The images range from home interiors, to barbershops, to boxing gyms, bars, and places of worship. These narrative images convey Cuban interactions within a complex urban environment in a period of rapid change.

The exhibit will be on display in the Ferguson Student Center Gallery from October 5 – October 28.


LatiNOW, A Night of Storytelling

Thursday, October 6
7:00 - 9:00 pm
Ferguson Student Center Great Hall

Join Creative Campus for a night of storytelling about contemporary Latino life in America as told by Natalie Lima, Juan Carlos Reyes, and Lila Quintero Weaver. The presented works will be followed by an audience Q&A and a reception with light refreshments. The event is free and open to the public.

International Spouse Group

The International Spouse Group is specifically designed to bring together the spouses of international students, faculty, staff and scholars for activities and interaction.

This group is open to the wives or husbands of international students, faculty, staff, as well as American spouses who are interested in making international friendships. We provide support in adjustment and acculturation while living and learning in the U.S.

Alabama Students Without Borders Presents:  Charlas con Cafe
Every Thursday from 4:00 - 5:00 pm  at the Ferguson Center Starbucks. Drop in for an hour, enjoy a cup of coffee, and practice your Spanish.
