Spotlight on the Freedom Forum
I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Raven P., the group moderator for Single, Saved and Waiting.

Her answers are italicized below.

What are your top three goals for this group and your blog (http://singlesavedandwaitin.blogspot.com/)?

The top three goals for this group and blog are to:

1)     Encourage all single women to work on building a closer relationship with Christ, making Him the true lover of their souls.

2)    Encouragement for all women, whether, single, married, divorced, on how we can truly live for Christ, and not just say we are women of God, but be a reflection of it through our actions.

          3)    Talk about topics that are not normally addressed              in the church in reference to women (modesty, dating             vs. courting, celibacy etc.)

Your site looks pretty new. How often do you plan to update it?
Well I think, depending on what the spirit gives me to share, it could be once or twice a week.

What do you believe are the biggest challenges single Christians face and how can we (as single and married women) support those needs in prayer?
I think one of the biggest challenges single Christians face is that the only advice we get from our sisters and brothers in Christ is, "Wait on God." No one ever says how we should do this, what we should do while waiting or relates to how difficult at times it is to wait on God, especially for a husband. So I do believe that single and married women can pray and ask God how they can help and support the singles that they have in their lives, especially the ones who are waiting for a companion.

Not every single woman is looking for a mate. Will your group meet the needs of those seeking and those who are content on their own?
Yes it will, the site just got started and I am going to cover topics related to waiting for your husband and what you can do in the first few blog posts, but as time goes on the topics will be related to all women, in any season of their life.

I know we have a bunch of CWA members who have been married and are now widows not really seeking a second go at love. Will your group welcome them as well?
Of course, and as stated in an answer from a previous question, the topics will be related to all women from all walks of life. It will be great to have a guest blogger who is either married or is a widow to provide some pearls of wisdom on the topics of relationships and marriage and what we should know before getting into a relationship and marriage. So I will welcome them with open arms.

You mention Boaz on your description. I think that will be a great invitation to those women I just mentioned who, like Ruth, have lost a husband and are now single. Can you explain why you see Boaz as that "ideal" man?
I see Boaz as that "ideal" man because Boaz was a true man of God, he didn't just recognize Ruth for her physical beauty, although I am sure Ruth was a beautiful woman, but he looked beyond that. Ruth left her home and followed her mother-in-law to a country she didn't know, she committed to worshipping and had faith in a God she had not grown up knowing but came to know and she went in the fields to work in a foreign land. Boaz saw her faith, loyalty, trust, integrity, work ethic and her noble character. Boaz recognized a Proverbs 31 woman. We live in a world today where a lot of men judge a woman based on her physical appearance only. A man who can look beyond your physical beauty and look for these characteristics and pursue you based on these is a man worth waiting for, an "ideal" man.

Are you waiting or are you content in this season even if God chooses to keep you there?
I am currently waiting. I want to get married someday and have children, but I have gotten to a point where I am content at where God has me. In my first blog post, recently, I just turned it over to God fully. I was still holding on and trying to make things happen, but I let go and let God.  God has gotten me to a place where yes I do desire a husband and children, but if that's not in His will for my life I will be content.

What do you wish married women knew about single life?
I wish they knew that it is not as easy as it may appear to be. Yes it's nice to go home to peace and quiet, to not have people annoying you sometimes, to have a lot of free time to do what you want to do and not to have anyone to worry about or care for but yourself. However it is nice to be loved, to love and cherish the life you created with your husband, and to care for a family. So I want married women to know that singles face struggles in this Christian life also, and for some singles it's a struggle with feeling lonely, but God is always able.

Meet Author, Jamy Whitaker
Allow me to introduce Jamy Whitaker, author of Get REAL: Stop Hiding Behind the Mask

Her recently released book takes on the challenge of provoking the reader to live authentically.

When asked, Jamy defined the leading cause of our "masks" as our insecurities and fears.

Her goals in writing Get REAL were to reach out to women and shine a light on what their true identity is, who Christ really is and explain why they do not need to hide behind a front.

Jamy says "it has been empowering to see God working to impact women's lives through this book".

I asked Jamy what she believes will be her reader's greatest take-away.

She responded that "the greatest take-away for the reader would be that their identity comes from Christ alone, not others or circumstances.  They need to take off the mask and let their true identity in Christ shine into the world around them."

A Song and Dance by Heather Randall

Zephaniah 3:17 says "The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing." (KJV)

Most of us have heard this verse before. Though we can't comprehend this great display of love, we understand that He is singing over us.

Did you catch that He will joy over you? According to Strong's Concordance the word for joy (#1523) means to spin around.

He not only sings over us, He dances.  It's an all out party in Heaven when He thinks of those who love Him.

Now, if the Creator of the universe can value us so highly and celebrate our existence in song and dance, how can we continue to feed ourselves on the lies of inadequacy and shame?

Think about the act of singing. The larynx, pharynx, breathing muscles, lungs, mouth, tongue, lips and teeth all work to create sound. The vibrating motion produces music and melody. It's a complex action.

Consider the act of dancing; the footwork and balance. Even the most careless dancer is physically engaged in a vast range of motion.

Our God is anything but careless.  We know how precise His movements must be, how gracefully He shifts. He is actively celebrating us from His lips down to His toes.

How do we return that love?

How much of our body celebrates His existence?

What muscles do we exercise to share His message?

Let's stop nullifying His exertions over us with thoughts of our perceived inadequacy.

Instead, put the shame aside and return the song and dance with thoughtful actions that glorify His holiness.

Blessings,

Heather Randall
