SPOTLIGHT EVENT —   GOACC ANNUAL DINNER , Premier Banquet Center, 6 p.m. social hour, 7 p.m. dinner, with program beginning at 8 p.m.  Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce’s will recognize two businesses, A Jason Clemons Salon and Premo Limousine Service of Western New York, and a businessperson, Walt Reisner; for their involvement and commitment to the greater Olean community.  Tickets for the event are $46 with a choice of menu of Grilled Salmon or Filet Mignon with a vegetarian option of Pasta & Vegetable. NOVEMBER 1—22 — CHARCOAL DRAWING PROTRAITS CLASS , Cattaraugus County Arts Council, 100 W. Main St., Allegany, Tuesdays from 6 to 8 p.m.  A beginners’ class in learning how to do charcoal portraits. Learn shading, blending and pulling out highlights using only black charcoal. Participants are asked to please bring 2 copies of an 8x10 black and white self portrait (photograph) to draw from.  All other supplies will be provided. NOVEMBER 2 — FRIENDS and FAMILY CPR , Olean General Education Center, 515 Main Street, Olean, 7:45 a.m. complimentary breakfast buffet, 8:15 — 9 a.m. presentation.  Family and Friends CPR is for anyone who wants to learn CPR without a need for a course completion card. This program is ideal for anyone interested in learning how to save a life. CPR mannequins will be utilized to teach participants. NOVEMBER 5 – St. Joseph Church Fundraiser – TUSCAN STYLE DINNER and WINE BAR , 1102 Walnut Street, Olean, 5 p.m.  The 2016 Massabki Award Medal will be presented to Ann Marie Wright, the first woman to receive the award medal at St. Joseph’s. The time capsule from the St. Joseph’s school will be opened at the dinner.  Also, an auction will take place with salvaged bricks from the school and church. Dr. Chris is the director of the new Cath Lab at the Olean General Hospital. He sees the effects of a western diet on heart health and is a local doctor who promotes the advantages. NOVEMBER 6 – GREAT PUMPKIN SHOOT , Besecker & Coss, 1553 Olean Portville Road, Olean, 12 Noon.  Thee person teams are invited with a $15 entry fee.  The teams will shoot at the targets – and every target is a winner.  The shoot benefits the L.E.E.K. Hunting and Mountain Preserve of Oswago, PA.

NOVEMBER 6 — POWERX NYS NATIONAL QUALIFIER , Good Times Event Center, Olean, 1 p.m. start, free admission.  The qualifier will consist of 3 lifts, power cleans, bench, and hex bar deadlift.  More details at www.powerx.us . PowerX uses 3 minutes to complete up to 20 repetitions with maximum weight; scoring by repetitions x weight; and with qualifying totals .  There is a $40 athlete entry. Nationals will be held in March 2017 at Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus Ohio.  This past March, Eade Fitness 24/7 team won the team National Championship and two team members took 1st place in their individual weight classes

NOVEMBER 11 – VETERANS DAY RUN FOR VETS , St. Bonaventure University, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Come join JCC Club Valor and Directions in Independent Living in honoring and celebration Veterans Day, 11/11. Registration is $25 and include a t-shirt. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Disabled Veterans of America (DAV). The remaining funds will support future education and collaborations in our community on veteran's issues. The run/walk will begin at 10 a.m. at the Allegheny River Valley  Trail.
