Kansas Legal Services to offer assistance on various programs


Local lawyers will meet with low-income Kansans to discuss health care decisions and prepare forms, including Advanced Directives and Powers of Attorney. Clients are encouraged to call in advance to schedule 620-232-1330 to schedule an appointment and avoid waiting. There will also be a community education presentation on debt collection and consumer rights.

Kansas Legal Services will provide a free community education presentation on Social Security Disability Benefits for adults and children. Learn about what Social Security Disability Benefits are and what Disability means.
The Aging with Attitude Regional Expo promotes positive attitudes about aging and educated older Kansans on issues that support physical, mental and financial health.

Behavior & Guidance Child Care Training Offered in Girard

This community-based training course focuses on a variety of ways to encourage positive behavior in young children. It considers the caregiver as the key to guidance, outlines methods of direct and indirect guidance, and setting and maintaining rules. In addition, it describes behavior problems, and tips to guide children towards more positive behavior.

Kids Can Cook Classes Scheduled for this Summer!

Wildcat District Extension EFNEP (Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program) will sponsor FREE cooking classes for youth to learn more about kitchen self-care skills. The classes are for youth that have completed the second through fifth grades.

Since this is a "hands-on" experience, class sizes are limited. Get your child's registration in soon!

National Festival of Breads

The National Festival of Breads is a bread baking contest which encourages those who like to bake to develop their skills.

After months of analyzing recipes, mixing, kneading, baking and tasting, a panel of judges has selected the recipes that will be represented in the fourth National Festival of Breads. The baking competition will be held from 8am - 3pm on June 13, 2015 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Manhattan, Kansas.
