What a month we had at Envision! The 20th Annual Goose Open was a smashing success, with over 150 golfers in attendance. Special thanks to
Course Sponsor
Mesirow Financial and all of our other event sponsors.
Our client artists have also been busy through partnerships with the
Weaving Mill at our
Westtown Artist Residency Project, and the
Swarm Artist Residency in East Troy, Wisconsin. Both of these first-time initiatives with Envision empowered individuals to express themselves and hone their talents in diverse artistic communities. Read more about these experiences in detail below.
Thank you for all of your support this summer. We couldn't do it without you!
All the best,
Mark McHugh

Swarm Artist Residency
In June, we were proud to announce the acceptance of clients Anthony Wood, Eunice Jones and Arnoldo Classen into the Swarm Residency,
an artist camp designated for people of all abilities.
Attendees enjoyed a high degree of autonomy by participating in daily workshops and discussion groups tailored towards cultivating their art, as well as inspirational walks and swimming in the lake. Importantly, each of our clients experienced moments of freedom and individuality as they decided their daily tasks for themselves. One client stated, "I feel independent here!" and another said, "I don't want to go home."
The Swarm attendees appreciated the unique viewpoints Anthony, Eunice and Arnoldo brought to the residency. This was nothing less than a transformational experience for all involved, challenging notions of disability and the definition of the word "artist."

Westtown Artist Residency Project
Our client artists have also been busy participating in weaving classes conducted by
three visiting artists from across the country at
Envision's Westtown Residency.
The
Weaving Mill initiative creates limited runs of material production and projects. Within the studio Envision clients participate in skill-building sessions that focus on measuring pattern pieces, cutting, sewing and creating art pieces with textile materials.
This collaboration is made possible by
Propeller Fund
, an organization that supports small, self-sustained artist organizations to engage with a Chicago's larger artistic community. This residency allows opportunity for our clients to be recognized in mainstream artist community, as partnerships are formed through programs like this.
