Copy Deadline October 1

Giving lies at the very center of our Christian Faith, and the Bible says a great deal about it—by God, by Jesus, and by people—in many different ways. We hope that writers for this edition of the Episcopal New Yorker will take their cue from that biblical variety, and range broadly over this rich topic!
We Invite Your Contributions!
Some things we'd be delighted to include:

  • Inspiring stories of transformative giving and/or receiving
  • Stories of faith strengthened by giving
  • Stories of giving as witnessing to faith
  • Reflections on the centrality of giving to our faith
  • Discussion of the practicalities of giving and of asking people to give, in the context of the parish and elsewhere
  • Is all giving equal? Is everything that we tell ourselves is giving really giving?
  • Giving to panhandlers - should a Christian be concerned about what they use the money for?
  • The technology of giving (pledging apps, etc.)

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. (John 3:16)

For there is no distinction, since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God; they are now justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Romans 2:22-24

Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians. 9:7
