Denver "folk & roll" songstress Esmé Patterson is releasing her solo album November 20th with Illegal Pete's record label, Greater Than Collective. Illegal Pete's President Pete Turner revealed the news in last week's episode of the Denver Diatribe. Patterson is continuing her work with Paper Bird, including the exciting collaboration with the Ballet Nouveau Colorado, "Carry On" this Friday, in addition to her solo work on the new release.
"It's really healthy for everyone to get their ya-ya's out, then we can come together with a renewed energy," Patterson told Westword in July.

Described by Patterson in the interview as "raw," the new solo album is greatly influenced by Van Morrison's Astral Weeks and Feists's Metals. Making appearances on the album are Nathaniel Rateliff, Roger Green (formerly of the Czars), Ben Desoto (Czars, Nathaniel Rateliff, Bare Bones), Genevieve Patterson and Sarah Anderson (Paper Bird), Carrie Beeder, Eric Moon, Mike Fitzmorris, Will Duncan, and many more.
Patterson is an experienced performer, with appearances with various groups on NPR's "All Things Considered," "The Late Show with David Letterman," "The Tonight Show," and Anaïs Mitchell's critically-acclaimed folk opera Hadestown. You can see Patterson at a free performance tonight at Illegal Pete's in LoDo in honor of the WAA conference. The party is a joint effort between Greater Than Collective and the Fort Collins similar-minded organization, Spokesbuzz, to show WAA conference attendeees the great music Colorado has to offer. It features sets by Patterson and Ginger Whale and is free to the public.
