PATTERNED BEHAVIOR ART MURAL
You may have seen some of the  exciting  press  coverage for our bold new temporary mural on the Esplanade. "Patterned Behavior" is a joyful and contemporary piece. The piece was produced and curated by Now + There and was designed by local artist, Silvia L รณ pez Chavez.  The project, located just West of the Mass Ave Bridge, will revitalize the concrete and asphalt heavy pathways near the Bowker Overpass while hopefully reducing graffiti.

The mural was 100% funded and commissioned by the Esplanade Association. If you would like to give to our Arts in the Park Fund, click here

TREE CARE UPDATE
One of the many beautiful mature trees in the Park.
Over the last several years, the Esplanade Association has focused our efforts heavily on the health of the Park's 1,708 trees. In 2015, EA contracted Bartlett Tree Experts to develop a comprehensive tree inventory identifying specific tree care needs such as pruning, fertilizing, and root aeration.

This fall, EA will work in partnership with the DCR and project consultant Kyle Zick, Landscape Architect, to develop a comprehensive Tree Care Management and Succession Plan. The plan will build off of the existing tree inventory to create a multi-year maintenance plan and diversified tree planting plan ensuring a healthy tree canopy for future generations.

COMPOST TEA APPLICATION
While out in the Park this fall, you may notice some of our horticulture staff spraying trees and plants with a brown liquid and think, "what is that"? Immediately, some of you would assume it's some sort of chemical. Fear not though, it's completely safe and organic compost tea!

Learn more about compost tea in our recent blog post

THANK YOU HIGH SCHOOL INTERNS
All three of our high school interns at work
In partnership with the City of Boston and the Boston Private Industry Council, and with generous funding from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts and the Beker Foundation, the Esplanade Association was able to hire three paid high school interns for the summer season. They gained valuable hands on experience working in the field with our Horticulture staff.
