Message from the Rabbi
Parshat Lech Lecha
As I mentioned over Rosh Hashanah, I had the privilege of taking our family to visit the "Bubby and Zaidy" at the Me'arat Hamachpelah in Chevron. While I had not been there for years, the rest of of the family had never been there at all.
There is something so powerful about bringing the portions of the Torah to life. When we read about Avraham and Sarah and the journeys they made, it can be just a story. When you follow the trail known as "Derech Ha'Avot" and you visit Beer Sheva, and you see the Cave of the Patriarchs, it is so much more than a story. The Tanach comes to life!
I am always grateful for these experiences particularly when we read these Parshiot that contain a great deal of geography and topography of the land of Israel.
Every year the stories gain new meaning for me. I hope they impact you as well in the same manner.
