Message from the Rabbi
Parshat Toldot

The whole episode of selling the birthright and then stealing the "Bracha" found in our Parsha is somewhat unsettling. There are certainly many questions left unanswered.

We all know that family is tough. Family disputes are even tougher. Sometimes it takes generations until the dust settles.
The question I ask you is this: When (if ever) is it acceptable to create strife in a family to achieve a greater good? Previously we have seen that it may be acceptable to tell a "White Lie" in order to achieve Shalom Bayit. Is this the same thing?

There are many ways to go with this issue and one needs to spend a great deal of time looking over the sources, but I think this is an issue we all encounter at one time or another. Hopefully we make the right decisions at the right time.

Shabbat Shalom
