Message from the Rabbi
Parshat Shemot
After basically flying through two thousand years of Jewish history in Sefer Bereishit, we slow things down a bit with the beginning of Sefer Shemot.  The next four books of the Chumash span approximately only two hundred fifty years in total.  That is a marked difference in coverage.
Shemot and the story of the Exodus are what defines us as a nation.  Our entire history is full of episodes of struggle, persecution and moving around.  Lots of moving around.  The one thing that keeps us here today is the same that kept our ancestors going in Egypt - faith!  Faith in Hashem coupled with faith in tradition is the only key to survival. It worked then and it still works now.  We don't need to fix that formula at all.
