Maynard Evans High School Community Brief
Wednesday, August 25, 2021
Evans Community Member,

Welcome to Evans High School, "A Place of High Achievement" where our focus is on literacy, rigor and relationships. Our school's pillars of pride, determination and perseverance continue to be on display daily by our students, staff and community.

We are off to a great start this year of learning. Our Trojans are engaged academically and our fall sports teams begin competition, specifically in varsity football and varsity volleyball this week.

Parents, please keep in mind that you can check Skyward, as well as Canvas, for updates on your academic progress. Please talk with your student about the importance of being to class on time, as we randomly have tardy sweeps weekly. You are highly encouraged to email your son/daughter’s teachers if you need additional information on your student’s academic progress thus far.

Our teachers are available to support students after-school for tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This begins this week! Students will need to report to their content teacher's classroom promptly after the dismissal bell at 2:20pm.

Additionally, our student services team of guidance counselors are available in the event you need to set-up a parent/teacher conference. Please call our student services number at 407-522-3400 ex 6232249. We will continue virtual parent/teacher meetings this year.

Parents, please mark your calendars, as we will have our Open House on October 12. We will start promptly at 6pm. Open House activities will conclude at 7:30pm. We look forward to hosting you and your student at Evans High.

For 3 years now, Jeremiah Simms has participated on various sports teams here at Evans High. Football being the one he has excelled in above the rest; he even started the final 4 games as our running back his freshman year. Over the course of 3 years, Jeremiah Simms has been at the top in Central Florida as it relates to yardage gained and touchdowns scored. It has been a joy to see #4 for Evans High school run through and past many defenders. Equally and even more impressive than his football stats is his 3.8 GPA. Jeremiah is a model of what you want as it relates to a student-athlete. His character and attitude on this campus has garnished him as one of the most respected young men by many students and staff. Although Jeremiah will not participate in football this year, he will continue to work hard in the classroom and continue to be a leader at Evans High school. Jeremiah, we are here to support you. You are pride, determination and perseverance… a Trojan!
