Your Community Brief from Evans High School
Tuesday, October 13, 2020
|
Thank you for your commitment to making Evans High School, "A Place of High Achievement." Our focus is on Literacy, Rigor, and Relationships and our school's pillars of Pride, Determination, and Perseverance continue to be on display by our students, staff and community. As we start the 2nd 9 weeks, we will have more students who will return to campus for face-to-face instruction. We welcome our students back to their physical campus. We will review with our Trojans safety measures that are in place for social interaction and in-person learning. Parents, 1st 9 weeks grades will be available for you to review your students' progress thus far. Please check our school website to view the voice over explaining how to access your student's progress report. This will be available on Thursday, October 15th. In the event you need assistance, our parent coordinator, Mrs. Constance Clark, is available for assistance and can be reached by e-mail at constance.clark@ocps.net or 407-522-3400 ex 6232314. Over the course of the 2nd 9 weeks, our administrative team members, including myself will begin having weekly meeting with all of our students. The focus of these meeting is to engage with our Trojans in an effort to ask about their needs relating to academics, concerns with technology, keeping them connected to school and to offer support and encouragement. These meetings will start this week, as students are contacted via Canvas. Our 1st home varsity football game will be Friday at 7pm. It is our goal to stream our home games for our Trojan supporters and families. Please visit https://evansathletics.com/ for more information about viewing procedures for Friday. We also will introduce the 2021 Varsity cheerleaders and The Green Machine pep band, as they are excited about the opportunity to support our team and join in on the fun!
Go Trojans!

Food for Thought
1. Share of College Student Debt by Age
If you scroll back up, you will see where Ms. Benefiel from our CCRC has a lot of useful information ready for our Class of 2021 seniors with respect to college financial aid. This chart is important in that it shows that younger persons are saddled with a great deal of the United States' total student loan debt. The problem with carrying too many loans is that once you graduate from college, choices like buying a house or getting married can be impacted. Ms. Benefiel can help our Trojans explore all college financial aid options.
