Evans Kiwanis 2Evans Roofing is all for giving back to the community

We are proud to announce our team was able to give back this year to the Wilton Manors Kiwani’s Clubhouse. This roof was awarded for the outstanding roofing restoration services donated by Evans Roofing. While the roofing materials were provided by the Kiwani’s Club, Evans Roofing provided the labor.

Kiwanis International was founded on January 21, 1915, in Detroit, Michigan. Kiwanis is a Native American word meaning “We gather and make noise”.

In 2005, delegates to the 90th anniversary International Convention voted to adopt a new motto, “Serving the Children of the World” to emphasize the primary focus of Kiwanis service over those nine decades and make a commitment for the future.

Fascia Board repair study case:
The iceberg theory

_

DFRSA Roofing LoansArriving to the property and visually inspecting the roof our estimator was able to see what appeared to be rotted fascia, upon a thorough inspection in the attic he was able to verify it was not just rotted fascia but there was a crack above the drip edge that was causing this issue to result in the rotted wood.For this extensive repair we (Evans Roofing Company A) provided a quote for $2,800.After a few days the customer came back to us, confused about the price differences between our quote (Evans Roofing Company A) and a quote for $900 from (Company B). Here is the differences of the two quotes:

Company A (Evans Roofing) Company B
Attic inspection No attic inspection
oof evaluation Replacement of fascia board only
Explanation of how to properly fix the roofing issue
Replace rotted fascia board
Replace rotted wood on main roof deck
Repair trusses
Replacement of tiles and underlayment
Repair estimate
$ 2,800
$ 900
Results
This repair quote will take care of the consequences of the leak No fix for the actual leaking area

In conclusion, this is an illustration of the iceberg theory. What we see might not be the big picture.

Professionalism and 30 years of experience make the difference for this happy customer. Look twice when comparing quotes...

Is Your Roof in Jeopardy?

Roofing membrane thickness is a key determinant to longevity, durability and weldability.

Roof surfaces have to withstand challenging climatic and meteorological conditions involving moisture, temperature, and solar radiation and wind. Over time, these forces combine to age membranes, resulting in part in a loss of thickness for all products.All other factors being equal, a thicker membrane withstands these forces longer.

So for Flat roofs choose modified bitumen vs mineral cap sheet. And for Tile underlayment you should choose modified bitumen vs 90 lbs.

Old Bill saysMaintenance Checklist

✓ Inspect at least twice a year, and after any severe storm.
✓ Clear roof drains of debris (roof warranties don't cover this).
✓ Walk the perimeter to examine sheet metal, copings, and previously repaired sections.
✓ Check roof-to-wall connections, and examine flashings (at curbs and penetrations, etc.) for wrinkles and tearing.
✓ For single-ply roofs, re-caulk the top of face-mounted termination bars (if needed).
✓ Keep traffic off of the roof to avoid membrane damage.
✓ Plan a moisture survey every 5 years to detect wet insulation or leaks.
