2018 Evening with an Author
The Geographies of Harriet Tubman's Life and Legacy

Join noted Tubman biographer,
Kate Clifford Larson, for an evening exploring how the
core of Harriet Tubman's life experiences are rooted in the geography of the fields, forests, paths, and waterways of the Eastern Shore and beyond.
Learn about Tubman's complex life, with new details based on the latest research, and share in celebrating her enduring spirit.
The talk will be followed by a catered reception and book signing.
Limited copies of
Ms. Larson's book, Bound for the Promised Land: Harriet Tubman: Portrait of an American Hero, will be available for purchase.

The Illustrative Works
of Artist Laurie Cumpston

Indulge your sense of delight with an evening spent in the company of artist Laurie Cumpston! With nature and mythology as her inspirations, Laurie deftly wields her crow quill pen to create delicately detailed illustrative works.
While encompassing a range of styles and subjects, Laurie's work is united by a sense of wonder, joy in the natural world, hints of humor, and enchanting flights of fancy.
The exhibit will remain on display throughout the month of May.

African-American poet and playwright
Robert Earl Price returns to KCPL with poetry and thoughtful observations.
Robert Earl Price is a poet and playwright whose work often incorporates the lyricism and rhythm of Jazz and Blues. He is black cultural worker and a veteran of the Black Arts Movement that influenced and was influenced by the recent Civil Rights movement. His poetry strives to capture the visceral impact of the heroism of survival in an oppressive society.
