Many thanks to everyone who brought non-perishable food items last Sunday (5th March) in response to our appeal on behalf of Caritas providing hot meal to migrants and refugees camped out in Menton.
Lora Bernebei delivered these for us on Monday, 6th March, and the shipment was gratefully received by Caritas in Ventimiglia. They now request donations of the following:
Sunflower oil & olive oil
Canned: chickpeas, lentils, peas
Rubbish bags, rubber gloves, disposable gloves, sponges, laundry detergent.
No cakes/cookies/sweets please. Diabetes & dental problems are common.
Bring your donations any Sunday in the season of Lent and on Easter Sunday as well.
Caritas also welcomes monetary donations which are used to purchase fresh food items and to pay other expenses associated with housing and caring for these unfortunate people. Donations to support this charity can be offered by cheque made out to Saint Paul's Church and clearly marked for this purpose, and cash donations can be left in the donations urn at the back of the church on Sunday mornings.
