Social Inclusion Week
21 - 29 November 2015
8 October 2015
|
|
With just under 7 weeks to launch date, it's time to get creative, put your ideas in to action, jump on to our website and register your event.
We've already had some fabulous creative new events registered and some regulars back too... we're delighted to see the Community Picnic in the Park at West Logan, Qld return. Having been with us from the start they were so disappointed to miss last year
due to park renovations.
There's no need to wait until you have all the details worked out, as soon as you have a Name and Date register your event and you can go back and fill the detail in over the coming weeks... If you're not sure where to start, head to our website and under RESOURCES you'll find an Event Guide and other useful info including Posters you can download and use to help promote your event.
Most importantly though, remember that your event doesn't have to be onerous... it might be a simple as arranging a Morning Tea with work colleagues, organising a Street Party or BBQ for neighbours, holding Discussion Groups and Forums, organising a Movie Screening or opening up one of your existing weekly events - perhaps a choir rehearsal or team sport. It can be a free event, you can charge a fee, or you may like to fundraise for a charity. There are options that can work for every community, budget, or venue - how people get together in communities isn't as important as WHY.

Spread the word about
Social Inclusion Week 2015!
Conceptualised by Dr Jonathon Welch AM,
and supported by Rotary & the School of Hard Knocks
, SIW was launched in 2009 as a way for communities to come together to share knowledge and experience and to address isolation and exclusion.
Our goals during Social Inclusion Week?
- To help all Australians feel valued and give people the opportunity to participate fully in society;
- To connect with local communities, work mates, family and friends to build relationships and networks;
- To address isolation and exclusion by supporting people who may be unable to help themselves;
- To get organisations and clubs to promote, host or attend a social inclusion focused event.
It is an annual initiative that takes place the last week in November. This year Social Inclusion Week will run from
Saturday 21 to Sunday 29 November 2015.
