My star word was responsibility. Over the past few months, I have taken on extra tasks at work (childcare center). I am now on a leadership team that works to make the workplace a better environment for the staff and a better center for our families. It is up to us, as a leadership team, to be the example of what is expected of us as a staff, and what is expected of us in relationship to our families. It is a responsibility that has presented its challenges. It becomes difficult to be one of the people that has to kindly remind someone what they should be doing without creating a "teacher's pet" kind of persona. I have to be very careful of how I approach each situation with each individual in a way that they will accept the redirection or recommendation in a positive way. This is a responsibility that I take seriously and with great caution.
If then there is any encouragement in Christ, any consolation from love, any sharing in the Spirit, any compassion and sympathy, make my joy complete: be of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves. Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others. ~Philippians 2:1-4
