Disaster Relief Fund Activated

So many people have been impacted by the wild fires in California, including a number of Exchange Club members. The destruction is heartbreaking!  We have been told that at least 10 Exchange Club members in the Paradise and Chico areas alone have lost their homes or rentals in the fire.

As is the true spirit of Exchange, we are asking members to continue to show their support by giving to fellow members in a time of need. If you would like to help fellow Exchange Club members who have been effected, please consider a donation to the NEC Foundation Disaster Relief Fund. Monies donated to NEC Foundation Disaster Relief will go directly to help Exchange Club members in need; and, of course, your donation is tax deductible.

To also lend support, Chico Noon Exchange Club has started a GoFundMe campaign to support anyone affected in the Northern California, Butte County area.  The club has pledged a $20,000 match for monies raised via the GoFundMe campaign. Donations to this fund are also tax deductible.
Please keep these families in your thoughts and prayers!

To Donate via the NEC Foundation:
1. Text-to-donate: Text the word RELIEF to 419-800-0358 (you will be prompted to secure registration for your first donation);
2. Online at https://www.nationalexchangeclub.org/donors/ (specify " Disaster Relief" in the comments line);
3. Mail a check, payable to NEC Foundation, to 3050 W. Central Ave., Toledo, OH 43606 (note " Disaster Relief" in the memo section).

To Donate via Chico Noon Exchange Club GoFundMe:

Happy anniversary to the  Exchange Club Child  Abuse Prevention Center of Indianapolis, IN! The center will celebrate  20 years in December!

 Plan Now for
Child Abuse Prevention Month (April)

Start planning now to make April 2019, Child Abuse Prevention Month , the best one yet! This is a great time to partner with a local Exchange Club Child Abuse Prevention Center in projects that support children and families, and expand efforts in communities to raise awareness about the prevention of child abuse.

Exchange Clubs should consider proclamations for the prevention of child abuse and/or public awareness campaigns. Organize a blue ribbon or blue pinwheel display in a prominent location in the community. Start a Blue Mondays challenge within your Exchange Club District.  And, of course, utilize components of Exchange's Believe in the Blue campaign.

Your club will soon receive Believe in the Blue resources from National Headquarters that can be distributed throughout the community to strengthen families, keep children safe, and share the work of Exchange!

For more information  about Exchange's National Project, the prevention of child abuse, visit NationalExchangeClub.org/cap.

Annual Report

 Programs of Service Opportunities
New opportunities for Exchange Clubs, Collegiate Clubs, Excel Clubs, and members to better their communities are always upon us.

Here are a few suggestions to help generate project ideas:

December:
is a month of celebration and giving back! To participate, clubs and members could:
  • Send holiday cards to U.S. soldiers! Local Red Cross offices are available to help. Contact
    your local Red Cross office for more information !
  • Provide holiday dinner baskets to local Exchange CAP Center families, or consider volunteering your time.
  • Donate Christmas gifts to local day care centers or Toys for Tots to help bring join to a child in need.
  • Sponsor a holiday party at a senior center or nursing home.
January:
Clubs and members may consider:
  • Visiting a nursing home and reading a book with the residents, talking about topics in the news, playing cards, and bringing joy into their lives!
  • Offering your skills rather than goods. Offer to repaint a community playground, rake leaves, or shovel the snow of a neighbor who is unable to so.
  • Plan ahead for February, National Community Service Month.
February:
is National Community Service Month!
  • Help a school in your community by distributing school lunches, check or grade papers for teachers, help during recess, or help manage a school function.
  • Donate to a local food bank or find out how you can help feed the hungry in your community by visiting FeedingAmerica.org.

Please remember to share p ictures of your club at work with National Headquarters: [email protected] and share on social media with #ExchangeStrong and #GrowExchange!
