Alumni Newsletter | November 2016

It is hard to believe Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away and Christmas just over a month. We had a busy summer and fall with many activities for our alumni and hope you were able to attend some of the events. As we approach the holiday season and new year, we want to share with you some exciting things planned for the students and alumni. They include a new scholarship program, "The Luther Promise", a new alumni platform and the consideration of a new doctorate degree and program. Please take time to review the content of this newsletter. We value your input and look forward to seeing you at some of the upcoming events. Don't forget to "like" us on Facebook to make sure you are kept informed of all the professional development opportunities, ways you can be involved and what is happening at CUW.

Wishing you and your family a blessed Thanksgiving!

Introducing CUWConnect
We learned through the alumni survey a large number of you wished you had more opportunities to connect with alumni while you were students.  And many would like more regular updates about their alma mater.   We value your input, and we're acting on it! We will be launching a new platform to connect alumni to alumni, alumni to students and alumni to faculty. Watch for an invitation to join CUWConnect in your email the week of Thanksgiving.
Up To $20 K of  Guaranteed Scholarship
Announced on October 13, The Luther Promise is available to children of Concordia University System alumni, as  well as Lutheran high school graduates, members of Lutheran congregations, or dependents of rostered church workers in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Students are eligible for institutionally funded scholarships that provide between $16,000-$20,000 annually to attend Concordia University Wisconsin or Ann Arbor. Click here  to find out more about The Luther Promise and what it could mean for your child.

The Luther promise offers qualified students access to the highest-quality, Christ-centered higher education possible, and puts a lifelong Lutheran education within reach for more students than ever before.
Build Up Students - Build Up Homes
Giving Tuesday- November 29th
As we approach this holiday season, we're seeking your help to continue our mission of developing students in mind, body, and spirit for service to Christ in the Church and the world by sending the next wave of students on mission trips to Haiti, Guatemala, Appalachia, and New Orleans.

On Giving Tuesday-the Tuesday after Thanksgiving-we ask you to prayerfully consider building up students with your donation.  On Nov. 29 you will be able to make your donation and be part of a one-day global giving initiative and watch the Giving Tower grow through everyone's donations. Click here to learn more about the mission trips and to download the free CrowdRise Giving Tower app.
CUW Seeks Your Input on a
New Doctorate Degree and Program
CUW values and seeks your input on a new degree and program experience which we are currently developing - the Doctorate in Leadership and Continuous Improvement. The doctorate  focus on both the art, or service, and science of leadership and continuous improvement, along with the cross-disciplinary approach, and opportunity to provide an elective concentration in one particular area of interest (e.g. education, business, healthcare, etc.) will be some of the significant and the distinguishing features of the program.

We are asking those who might be interested to take a short survey, which will provide us with valuable information as we proceed and fine-tune our program development and design. Thank you, in advance, for taking the time to complete this survey.  We sincerely appreciate your input and feedback. Click here to complete the Cross-Disciplinary survey by November 28th.

What is Important in Your Spiritual Life?
"What's important in your spiritual life? How do you engage in spiritual practices and/or with worship communities? What do you believe in? What brings you peace, comfort, and strength?"
A national Lutheran foundation has asked us to help them spread the word about a study it is conducting on the importance of spiritual engagement among young adults. Please click here to take a 7-8 minute anonymous survey that asks a series of questions about your spiritual engagement.
The survey results will provide insight into how young adults may be effectively supported in their spiritual beliefs and practices.
