You're not out of the woods just because your ice dams are gone

This winter we are receiving many calls from home-owners needing interior repair work due to the damage caused by the ice dams that were very prevalent earlier in the season.   Ice dams are the warning sign of heat loss that could lead to bigger problems for you down the road.   This is an issue that you want to address even if you made it through this season without any apparent water leakage.

heat loss

This photo  shows that

some portions of the roof are snow covered and other are not.  The sections without snow are evidence that there is heat loss.  This heat loss creates the ice dams that you see on the gutters and that can lead to leaks inside your home.  anatomy of an ice dam

The photo (right) shows how the damming can lead to interior leaks when the ice backs up under the shingles and starts to melt from the warmer temps. inside your home.  Ideally your attic temperature and the temp. outside should be the same, an issue that can be remedied with additional insulation and proper ventilation in the attic. Check your ceilings for rings from water spots; this is one indication that you could have water leaks from ice dams.  Another step in helping to eliminate these problems is to use a roof rake to clean the snow off of the lower portions of your roof, which will allows the sun to melt the ice.

We can help customers be proactive in handling their home maintenance so that ice dams and other weather related issues don't create unexpected problems.

his bathroom gets an update with added storage

You may have a nice sized bathroom and still not have the organization you want. An all-around update can make a world of difference in creating a functional and comfortable space.

Todays cabinetry offers so many more storage options than what may have been available when your bathroom was originally designed.

Reconfiguring the shower in this bathroom, without changing the footprint, made a vast difference in both aesthetics and space.

Deferred Home Maintenance

This high-end home went into foreclosure

and was in desperate need of repair work due to deferred maintenance.  Sass was hired to return the home to quality condition like that of the other homes in the neighborhood.

Remodeling and repair work included installing and refinishing all new windows, re-landsCommunity Bank deckcaping & grading to improve drainage, and deck repairs. Kitchen, bathroom and other interior work were also required.

Our homes all need constant attention.  Even a new home only stays in quality conditon if repair work is continued on a regular basis.  Customers often find that they don't have the time or skill to take on the small repairs, which when  left can become bigger issues.  Sass Construction is able to help you with all your home improvement and remodeling needs - big or small.  Call us at 952-474-4568 or click here to send us an e-mail.  We'd be happy to discuss your concerns.

Rave Review
"Thanks Jeff.  I appreciate the work that you guys did on this house, for us.  Not living there, I didn't want to have to be there a lot and it was nice having you take care of everything.  Your attention to detail was very important to me and I was thankful for that.  I will gladly refer you should an opportunity present itself."

~Community Bank Chaska

This was an upper-end foreclosed home.  The home sold within a month of Sass' completion of renovation.
