Your Vital Role in Meeting a Critical Need
A note from Ron Lanoue, Ellie Fund Board Treasurer

As a CPA and Director in KPMG's Business Tax Services
Ron Lanoue with wife, Wendy Parmet
Group in Boston and the Board Treasurer of the Ellie Fund, I am responsible for overseeing the Ellie Fund's finances. I organize our decision-making concerning the budget and oversee the month-to-month routine accounting, cash management and other finance work of the organization (the latter made simple by our great staff).

You, our many donors and supporters, have the vital role of sustaining and growing the Ellie Fund - via your donations.

As you know, the continuing services the Ellie Fund provides meet a critical need for a uniquely vulnerable population. Our work makes all the difference in the world for breast cancer patients receiving treatment in Massachusetts who otherwise face financial and family crises on top of their medical diagnosis. It may be hard for many of us to realize how great an impact this disease presents for our patients. So, here are some stark numbers:
  • 47% of Americans told Federal Reserve researchers they do not have the resources to handle a $400 emergency expense. And, this was not just lower income individuals and households-27% of those earning over $100,000 said this, too.
  • Further, 31% said they went without medical care because they couldn't afford it in the prior 12 months.
  • Even in relatively wealthy Massachusetts, a GoBankingRates.com survey showed 25% have zero savings and a 59% majority have less than $1,000 in the bank.
That is why those of us on the Ellie Fund's Board, as well as our staff and volunteers, are so gratified by your continuing, strong support. Most recently, you came through for us at the fabulous 5 for Ellie Fashion Show. Thanks to your generosity, this event raised over $260,000 - an $80,000 increase from 2016!

There are many exciting upcoming opportunities to support the Ellie Fund's mission, including our 5th Annual Real Golfers Wear Pink Charity Golf Tournament on Monday, August 28 at Wollaston Golf Club. Thank you so much for your continued generosity and dedication to our mission!

Thank you,

Ron Lanoue
Board Treasurer

Our work is not possible without your support
Because of you, we can continue to provide invaluable assistance to patients like our 5 for Ellie honored guests, Dora, her husband Chris and daughter Chiara. Dora is undergoing treatment for metastatic breast cancer and bravely shared her story at our spring fashion show. Please watch the video below to learn how the Ellie Fund has made a difference.
Special thanks to Dmitriy Dribinskiy of I DO Cinematography.

Your donation today will help ease the burdens of breast cancer treatment for patients like Dora. Give now to make a difference.

Supporter Spotlight: WCVB Channel 5
WCVB Channel 5 President & General Manager Bill Fine with the 5 for Ellie models
For over a decade, the Ellie Fund has been honored to partner with WCVB Channel 5 on our annual spring fashion show, raising much needed funds for women, men and families undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
This year's 5 for Ellie Fashion Show hosted a 'standing room only' crowd of over 350 attendees.

"WCVB has been proud to work with the Ellie Fund and support their mission to provide services that ease the stresses of everyday life for breast cancer patients so that they can focus on recovery and healing," says WCVB President and General Manager Bill Fine. "By lending our station's production resources and on-air talent, as well as securing some great auction items from ABC, we helped make this a record-breaking fundraising year for 5 for Ellie!"

We are also proud of our long-standing generous partnership with WCVB for our annual Red Capet Gala, Boston's only 'official' Oscar Night event!
five5 for Ellie- A Record-Breaking Success!

We are thrilled to share that 5 for Ellie raised more than $260,000! Hosted by Emcee Paula Faris of "The View" and "Good Morning America: Weekend Edition," 5 for Ellie included an exciting live auction with auctioneer extraordinaire Billy Costa of KISS 108 and NESN, fabulous fashions by alice + olivia modeled by the beautiful newswomen of WCVB Channel 5 and a surprise appearance by special guest Tom Brady during the most successful Fund a Family campaign to date!

"The unprecedented success of the event would not have been possible without generous contributions from guests, our partnerships with Presenting Sponsor The Slater Foundation and Media Sponsor WCVB Channel 5 as well as the support of all of our event sponsors and donors," said Executive Director Gail Fine. "Additionally, we were honored to present the 2017 Hope Award to Sam Slater, Director of The Slater Foundation, in recognition of his enthusiastic and generous dedication to our mission."
