Why I Decided to Support the Ellie Fund
A note from Tom Jacob, Ellie Fund Board Member

There are hundreds, even t housands, of great and noble charities, so why did I decide to  support the Ellie Fund and join its Board of Directors? What is unique and special about this nonprofit? For me it boiled  down to its mission and the people who work and volunteer at the Ellie Fund.

The Ellie Fund provides nutritional and grocery assistance, transportation to medical appointments, prepared and delivered meals, childcare reimbursement and light housekeeping to patients and families undergoing treatment for breast cancer. While providing these services is the tangible output, what we really provide is a small amount of freedom. Patients who benefit from Ellie Fund grants do not have to worry about some of the everyday life chores that don't go away just because they are dealing with breast cancer.

We are very fortunate to be led by Gail Fine, our Executive Director, whose management skills, leadership and energy are unsurpassed. She is supported by our great staff at the Ellie Fund, who are dedicated to providing support to families faced with breast cancer. They are compassionate and focused with great respect for the patients they serve- all with a great sense of humor. Patient Services Coordinator Anne Meisner, Director of Development Hillary Harrelson, Events & Public Relations Manager Kaitlyn Ferrini, Administrative & Fundraising Assistant Natalie Kfoury and Finance & Human Resources Coordinator Carole Burpee all go above and beyond to assist our families and I could not be more proud of their commitment and skill.

I am also involved with providing funding for cancer research. While finding a cure is obviously important work, we also need to support those dealing with the disease now. The Ellie Fund does just that. I am humbled and honored to be a part of such a great organization. My sincere thanks for your dedication to our mission.
Thank you,

Tom Jacob
Board Member
Your Impact
314 grants were distributed from July through September 2017 with $137,534 provided in services, a 15% increase compared to this quarter in 2016. Take a look at the impact of your support:
Our work is not possible without your support.
Because of you, we can continue to provide invaluable assistance to patients like Kate, a 42-year-old single mother, who recently wrote to us sharing:
" I'm not someone who cries easily or often, but I had to explain to my son that there are such things as happy tears when I opened my Ellie Fund grant letter in front of him.  I've been blessed with countless silver linings along this journey, and they all have made it possible for me to view this as one of the happiest times in my life rather than one of the darkest. I hope that you'll share my utmost gratitude and appreciation with all those who made this grant possible for me. "

Your donation today will help ease the burdens of breast cancer treatment for patients like Kate. Give now to make a difference.
