Dear Camp Charles Pearlstein Family,
I write this message with much excitement for the future of our beloved camp.
We are thrilled to announce that Congregation Beth Israel members Jill and Jay Stein have pledged a major gift to our camp in honor of Jay's parents, Daisy and Harry Stein. This gift will ensure that the camp is here to stay, and that Jewish children in this region will ALWAYS have a camp to call their own.
It also means that the camp's name will change to Camp Daisy and Harry Stein (Camp Stein) as we begin to prepare for Summer 2013.
Attached you will find a letter that went out to members of Congregation Beth Israel earlier this week. I hope that you will read the letter in its entirety because when you do, you will find out first and foremost, that NOTHING about the heart and soul of the camp will change. When you cross that cattle guard, you will still get the same butterflies in your stomach, and when you step out of your car (or bus), you will be greeted by the same familiar smiling faces that mean the most to you.
You will also find out that the Pearlstein Family, specifically Irv Pearlstein, while nostalgic, understands that this change will enable the camp to flourish for years to come. Irv has in essence passed the baton to the next generation. His passion for Jewish Camping will continue to live on, as will the Pearlstein name. Our outdoor chapel will from now on be the Irv Pearlstein Chapel.
Please join me in celebrating this exciting news, and embracing what this change will mean for our future.
Thank you, Jodi
