CEO Update
Check it out!  30 second "The New Nevada video" to send out. Here is the link!

Advanced manufacturing and logistics growth continues.  We continue to see manufacturing and logistics companies considering and then deciding to relocate to our region.  This is the bulk of our new company prospect activity.  However, there are fewer available employees to fill these quality jobs.  If we are to continue this exciting new growth we need to embrace this opportunity.  Recognition by parents, counselors and the community, of the new Reno-Sparks as an advanced manufacturing and logistics hub is the first step.

New Performing Arts Center? While the Pioneer Center has served us well for more than 50 years, a new center to showcase our performing arts in the next 50 years is a dream that some want to consider.  There will be a study done to investigate the feasibility of a new performing arts center for the region.  If you are interested in supporting this effort financially, or want to be involved in the study, please contact Pam Matteoni or call 775.829.3711.

Help Us Promote The Region!  If you have not already sent this video to 10 or more out-of-state friends or acquaintances, now is the time.  We are rapidly approaching a workforce shortage with all the new companies coming to the region.  Whatever you can do to get the word out will help us to attract the talent we need to go to the next level! The New Nevada: Video here.

The EPIC Report with Actual Numbers updated through January.  Lest we forget that this is just a set of projections based on the best available information, having the actual numbers will help us track and respond to our growth in the months ahead. Here are the Actual Numbers Charts .

In case you missed it: Prior EDAWN articles, published in the RGJ, are stored on our website. These informative articles run in the Reno Gazette Journal on the 3rd Sunday of every month and are designed to inform the community and explain issues and concerns that we see as your regional economic development agency.  Here is the link to the library .

Business Retention|Expansion & Workforce
The team made 20 company visits in the month of February.  Four of the visits were deep-dive workforce visits with employers to understand the specific jobs being created, as well as the  knowledge, skills and abilities that go along with those positions. The team also contributed input to the State Board of Education High School Graduation Committee, and is co-leading the regional Workforce Consortium in conjunction with The Chamber.

The Changing Workforce Climate and Preparing Students for Success. Logistics, advanced manufacturing and technology are reshaping industry job growth in Northern Nevada. To provide educators with a window into this changing employment landscape, a tour of the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center was conducted for WCSD middle school leaders. The tour included online retailer, zulily and the Ardagh Group. For the full story, go here.
