Exercise In This HOT Weather? You Bet, Just Be Careful!

In Victoria we're used to having awesome weather.  In fact, we can be smug about it and will often take almost any opportunity we get to share pictures of our good fortune with the less fortunate suffering through yet another snowstorm or thunder shower anywhere east of the ocean around our Island.  But, lately, we've been experiencing slightly more than our normal amount of beautiful, hot sunny days.  In fact, we've even been shattering records that have been around for over 100 years!  It's not that we don't LOVE it, but it can cause some concern for those not used to exercising outside in the heat this early in the year.  So, with that in mind, we'd like to offer some hints, tips and advice to keep you safe and healthy during your outdoor exercise.

Next Boot Camp Training Session

Our boot camp classes are kept small so you get more of the one-on-one attention you deserve and need.  All our classes enjoy an array of different styles of exercising including cardio (this includes power walking) and strength training with weights and other equipment.  We mix it up (along with working out at different locations) to keep it interesting and, yes, challenging.  I want you to feel good about your workout and feel strong and want more!

"You Can Stay Skinny With Diet Alone"

Yes, you can lose weight simply by cutting back on calories.  But, combining exercise with a healthy diet is more effective and will help you lose weight more quickly.  More importantly, it's better for you and it will help you keep the pounds off permanently.  The majority of the participants in the US National Weight Control Registry (a survey of thousands of people who have lost a significant amount of weight and kept it off for years) report that a consistent exercise program is one of their key weight maintenance strategies.
