Dear Girl Scout Family,
A couple of weeks ago I went to the BWCA Wilderness for a week with two women friends. This is the fifth annual trip for me. One of the neat things about camping -- and especially wilderness canoe tripping -- is creative problem-solving without a superstore nearby. For instance, when one person's sleeping mat goes flat on the second night of the trip, what do you do: a. turn around, b. take turns sleeping on the flat mat, or c. other? Our group decided c... turn the mats sideways. Everybody slept with mat under head and torso (the two areas you need it the most, trust me). We overcame other challenges together, some rather large (like getting a 3 person canoe with gear across a beaver dam) and others rather small (like where to set up the rain fly "just in case"). Being in the outdoors can be a life-changing experience. I encourage everyone to take time to spend time outdoors this summer! There's still time to come to Girl Scouts' Resident Camp, Troop Camp, or BWCA Wilderness Canoe Tripping. Thank you for being a part of our Girl Scout family! Tauna
