Saturday and Sunday Hours to Resume to School Year Schedule
 
On Saturday, September 12th, the Library will reopen on Saturdays from 10a.m. to 5p.m. and reopen on Sundays from 1:00-5:00p.m. We've got a lot happening so be sure to check our September Events Calendar!

It's Our New RFID System!
 
For those of you who have been in to the Library recently, you've had the opportunity to use our new, time-saving, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology when checking your items in and out. We look forward to those who haven't, to come in and experience this for yourself!  It's easy-
 
Here's the two-step process:
Scan your Library card under the red light
Take one or several items, place them on the new pad and you're done!
 
You'll still choose between a printed or emailed receipt, or choose to not get a receipt.
 
Don't worry, our friendly circulation staff will be on hand to guide you through your first visit. See you soon!

Drop them off at 30 Main Street (office building across from Price Rite - look for Newtown Savings Bank.) Volunteers will help unload your car!

Please do not bring: Encyclopedias, VHS tapes, Reader's Digest Condensed books, text books older than 3 years, computer books older than 2 years, medical or business books older than 5 years, magazines, badly damaged books, or textbooks with highlighting, writing, or underlining.

The Revolutionary War:
Educational Series

 
Embark on a jaunt to the past through this educational video seminar series created through Open Yale Courses (OYC). The seminars are conducted by historian, author, and Yale University Professor Joanne B. Freeman. If you like history, we think you'll love this well researched, 25-part program series that explores in great depth the Revolutionary War period. Programs will be held at the Danbury Library (L) and the Danbury Museum, 43 Main Street. (M)

Exit Berlin: How One Woman Saved Her Family from Nazi Germany

Author Charlotte Bonelli will talk about the heroic efforts of Luzie Hatch to rescue her family from the clutches of the Nazis. She was able to rescue her immediate family but many of her relatives perished in the Holocaust despite her efforts. The book and talk are based on her World War II correspondence.
