U.S. State Department Launches Women's World Cup Initiative
Earlier this week, just ahead of this summer's Women's World Cup, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton officially launched the Women's World Cup Initiative with the goal of empowering women and girls through sports.
The initiative includes three programs both domestically and abroad geared towards female youth and adult development.
As part of the initiative, former U.S. Women's National Team players Briana Scurry and Amanda Cromwell led clinics and engaged audiences in five German cities. Additional envoys will travel to Brazil this summer, too.
For more information on the initiative and the overall Sports United program, visit the official website.
