 Avalanche Courses Avalanches are the greatest backcountry hazard and are most often triggered by the victims themselves. If you go out in the backcountry, learning about avalanches is essential. Exum guides are among the world's most experienced in the snow. We offer American Avalanche Association Level I and Level II courses as well as custom courses. This year Mammut will be the proud sponsor of Exum's Avalanche Education Program. Mammut specializes in avalanche safety equipment. Every Exum Level 1 participant will have a chance to win a pack, shovel, and probe!!
Participants study how factors such as weather, snowpack, and terrain contribute to avalanche hazard.

Participants will learn more about the various snow stability tests and will learn to formulate hazard forecasts based on snow pit data.
