New Brochures
We are now distributing new brochures with the extended route and schedule change information. Please note that we are now including a "printed when" banner on the cover to make it easier for you to know if brochures are current or out-of-date. See picture below. Also, you can click on the picture of the brochure to view the complete maps and schedules on our webpage.

Ambassador
The South Padre Island Fire Department is a Weather Ready Nation Ambassador to help citizens and visitors be aware of the potential hazards related to the changing of the seasons throughout the year.

Routine Maintenance
Public Works crews planted four Sable Palm trees at the Water Tower Park that were purchased with Parks and Recreation funds.

Storm Drain Inlets
The Public works crews and Laguna Madre Water District (LMWD) cleaned storm drain inlets and pipes last week. This year the LMWD sent two of their vector trucks to speed up the project. City Council approved the $15,000 project at the August 20th City Council meeting and should complete the project by the end of the week.

Recycling
Recyclable items can be taken to Old City Hall every Saturday from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Items that can be recycled are:
  • Newspaper
  • Cardboard
  • Office Paper
  • Aluminum
  • Tin
  • Plastic
To offer a better recycling service please:
  • Compact, crush or break down plastic bottles, cardboard boxes, aluminum cans or any other items that may be reduced in size. This helps us use the most amount of space in the bins.
  • Remove any food, liquid, metal fasteners, adhesive materials or other items that may contaminate the whole load.

Animal Control
Lost or found an animal on the Island? The South Padre Island's Animal Control is working together with the Friends of Animals Rescue Group. Their foster-based recovery center helps reunite lost and found pets with their families. Friends of Animal Rescue will make every effort to reunite lost animals with their families. Animals that are not reunited will be vetted by Friends of Animal Rescue and placed with new families. Lost or found a pet please call:
(956) 761-PETS.
