Hands on Frederica Day - SATURDAY

Please make plans to join us for the Third Annual Hands on Frederica Day on Saturday, February 3, 2018.

We will use this day as an opportunity to clean, wash, paint, landscape, and show our campus some love before we host our annual Open House the following week.

We invite all members of the FA community to join us. Please click HERE to sign up. Volunteers can sign up for the first shift (8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.), the second shift (10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.), or can work both shifts.

Light refreshments will be served during service hours. We will follow up with volunteers in the week preceding the event to provide more specifics on work responsibilities.

Souper Bowl Food Collection - ALL WEEK

Frederica Academy is sponsoring its annual Souper Bowl Food Collection Drive  next week in celebration of Super Bowl 52. Boxes for the Philadelphia Eagles  and New England Patriots will be stationed on Happy Hall (Lower School) and in Corn Hall starting on Monday, January 29. Students and teachers can vote for who they predict or want to win the big game by putting canned food donations in the desired team box. Each division will determine the local agency who will be the beneficiary of their collected canned goods.

Thank You, Laura and Greer Brown!

A special thank you to Laura and Greer Brown for hosting this year's Annual Fund Oyster Roast. We also express our appreciation to everyone who attended this year's event as well as the Annual Fund donors who were not able to attend. Annual Fund donations help bridge the gap between tuition revenue and the actual costs of operating the school.

(L-R):  Laura Brown, Greer Brown, Virginia Schlegel, and Joe Schlegel.

Region Science Bowl Champions

The Frederica Academy 11th and 12th grade Science Bowl Team won the Regional Science Bowl competition at Armstrong Atlantic State University on Saturday.

Teams competed from both public and private schools in the southeast region of Georgia. In the competition, two teams battle as questions are asked and players buzz in to answer. If they get a question correct, they are given a tougher bonus question in which the team can confer. The 11th and 12th grade team members were captain George Poulakis, Ryan McHugh, John Mitchell Brock, and Constance Sullivan. They went 7-0 for the day, defeating every other team at the competition.

The 9th and 10th grade team also competed for Frederica. Those team members were captain Britton Sullivan, Dylan McHugh, Austin Mitchell, William Brock, and Garrett Squire. They went 3-3-1 in their matches finishing in fourth place overall, which is an excellent outcome for such a young team.

The 11th and 12th grade team will continue on to the state competition which will be held at Armstrong on Saturday, February 24th.

Last week, Kindergarten enjoyed a special guest reader who selected books based on what her grandchildren call her.   Mrs. Jeanie Cassell, better known as "Cookie", shared two precious books about cookies with the class. Her granddaughter, Caroline Vann, was thrilled to be surprised by this sweet reader!  It is always a treat to be a FA Kindergarten Knight!
