A Message from the FA Parent Association President

Dear Frederica Academy Parent Association Members,

It was exciting to see everyone at the Back-to-School Barbeque as we kicked off our new school year last week. I want to thank all of the wonderful volunteers who participated in this Frederica Academy tradition.

The Back-to-School Barbeque is just one tradition the Parent Association hosts in order to promote community among our Frederica families. We are here to promote a positive atmosphere for our students, faculty, and staff while they embark on fulfilling the school's mission of enriching the Mind, Body, and Spirit. To accomplish this we rely on parents to help with various volunteer opportunities throughout the school year. Volunteering is a fun way to meet new families while supporting your school. Whether you have one hour or many hours to volunteer, we can find a way for you to contribute in order to help Frederica's students. We appreciate every minute of support. Please email us at [email protected]  if you can help.

Volunteering - The Parent Association relies solely on volunteers. There are many different ways to volunteer.  Some include:
  • Poinsettia and Greenery - You can volunteer to sell poinsettias and greenery, unload trucks when they are delivered, and help with distribution.
  • Flu Shot and Smoothies - Nurse Byers can always use help with flu shots: retrieving students from their class; soothing upset children; and returning students back to class.  She also challenges students to try new things with food challenges such as healthy smoothies.
  • Box Tops - You can help count Box Tops and prepare them for mailing.
  • Teacher Luncheons - This is a great opportunity to make your child's teacher feel appreciated and get to know the other parents in your grade.
  • Holiday Cards - Each December parents are needed to stuff, address, and stamp holiday cards.
Fundraising - There are a number of ways to help us raise funds for the school. For example:
  • Poinsettia and Greenery Sale - Buy your poinsettias and holiday greenery from the Parent Association! You will hear more about this soon.
  • Amazon Smile - The school receives cash from Amazon when you select Frederica Academy as the charitable organization you want to support. Just go to www.smile.amazon.com to get started!
  • Mabel's Labels - For great clothing and other labels, go to www.mabelslabels.com and click the Support a Fundraiser tab. Choose Frederica and enjoy your new labels!
  • Box Tops and Labels for Education - Just cut these off of the boxes and cans you probably already have in your kitchen pantry and send them in with your child. It's that easy and Frederica receives cash back!
  • Harris Teeter and Publix - Link your cards to Frederica Academy to provide cash back to the school. The Harris Teeter card must be re-linked each year but once the Publix cards are linked, they stay linked.
  • Lands' End and the PA Used Uniform Sales - If you want new uniforms, be sure to buy them through Lands' End. If you prefer to buy gently used uniforms, the FA Parent Association will host uniform sales throughout the year. A donation box for uniform donations is located outside of the Lower School hall.
The Parent Association is glad you are a member of our Frederica Family and hope you will consider getting involved.

Sincerely,

Kelly Morgan
FA Parent Association President

Lower School Kandinsky Art Exhibit

Mrs. Schuyler's Art students in Grades 1-5 learned about the Russian painter and art theorist Wassily Kandinsky last week before creating their own painting inspired by his abstract work.

Fourth Grade First Week Happenings

In Fourth Grade we have had a couple of great days getting to know each other and learning the procedures and practices we need to be successful. One important lesson we learned from a couple of 5th graders and Officer Bobby is how to properly treat the American Flag while raising it and folding it. Patrick Dunn and Jimmy McQuade did a great job with the explanations and demonstration!
