Fathers, Faith, & Frederica (FF&F):  FRIDAY

Fathers, Faith, & Frederica, or FF&F, meets every Friday morning when students are in school (no kids, no meeting).  We are a simple group. We are Fathers of current or past Frederica students. We are men of faith. We have a deep attachment to Frederica Academy.  As one would expect, we talk about these three topics: being fathers; being men of faith; and Frederica Academy, extensively.

This semester, we are doing a nine-week study on leadership: What it is, why it is important, and how can we all become better leaders. This study begins on Friday, August 31.

FF&F meets in the Athletic Conference Room near the gym doors opposite Hamilton Hall. We meet from 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m., again, every Friday when students are in school. For more information, please contact me at [email protected]. There is no need to RSVP, just simply drop in to join us.

Oh, we also talk about college football and fishing (among other things).

Lower School Honors Mrs. Ackerman with Buddy Bench

In Friday's Lower School Morning Meeting, Mrs. Squire presented Mrs. Ackerman with a "Buddy Bench" that will be placed on the Terry Thomas Playground in her honor. Written on the bench is "You've got a friend in me," which represents how Mrs. Ackerman feels about all of the students at Frederica Academy. Mrs. Ackerman retired this summer having served as the Lower School Principal and Admission Director.

Fourth Grade Music Class Cup Game Song

Fourth grade students began the new school year in Ms. Shelton's music class with a cup game to the song, Turn the Beat Around by Gloria Estefan.

Click HERE to watch a video of the Fourth Grade performance.

Students played and counted rhythms, reviewed rests in music, and studied music history as they learned about 1994, the year the song was released. They also expanded their musical vocabulary as Mrs. Shelton talked about tempo, form, and explored what classifies something as a percussion instrument. The students and Ms. Shelton had a blast playing an unusual instrument with rhythm sticks and a plastic cup!

Second Grade Math Facts + Reading Routines

Second grade students are working on becoming Masters of Addition Facts! They are learning fun ways to practice facts with friends, like the Mastering Math Facts program and addition games.

Second graders also did an amazing job this week learning about routines during Reading Class. They did a wonderful job working with a reading partner to find story elements in the books they read together.

Pre-Kindergarten Mystery Reader

This week's Pre-K Mystery Reader was Caroline Temple's dad, Mike Temple. Mr. Temple is the Upper School Principal and the father of three Lower School students. He read Tallulah's Tutu by Marilyn Singer.
