A Message from the Head of School Search Committee |
On behalf of the Head of School (HOS) Search Committee, welcome back to another exciting year at Frederica Academy! We hope your summer proved as productive and fulfilling as ours and that the first few weeks of school have exceeded your expectations.
Since announcing the continuation of our search for the next Head of School last February, the committee has reviewed more than 80 applications obtained through referrals from friends, constituents, and
Southern Teachers Agency. Members of the committee, with the help of our consultant David Daniel, have interviewed potential candidates by phone and Skype session, asked members of the school's administrative leadership team to participate in select sessions, and hosted several on-campus screening interviews. The overwhelming response has served as an affirmation of Frederica Academy's reputation for delivering an exceptional experience to its students, families, faculty, and leadership.
During this process, the committee is continually reminded by the criteria established by our parents, faculty, staff, and board of trustees. Our mandate to is seek candidates who have a proven track record in the classroom, as an academic administrator, and as a head of school (or equivalent). Further, it is important that candidates demonstrate an understanding of finances, advancement, and marketing, as well as being eager to lead on campus and in the community.
As you might imagine, with so much at stake and with so much interest in the position and our school, the search has not been without its deliberations. Many candidates have exhibited impressive qualities and levels of experience, some even have close personal ties to members of our committee and our Frederica families. But, with your continued support and the help of Southern Teachers and David Daniel, the committee remains steadfast in its commitment to find the finalists most closely aligned to the expectations set forth last fall.
We look forward to relaying more frequent updates as the search process proceeds. Please continue to reach out directly with questions and suggestions in the interim. The committee continues to value your individual feedback and thoughtful insights.
Sincerely,
HOS Search Committee Chair

Seventh Grade Pre-Algebra Math Games |
The Seventh Grade Pre-Algebra students have been working with great enthusiasm for the past two weeks on their first mini project. They were asked to create a math game that can be played in small groups. Students were required to build their game around concepts they have learned this year, including order of operations, integers
,
and equations with variables. They presented their projects to the class by explaining their game objectives and instructions, then rotated through each game station. It was great to see such creative game designs that can continue to be used for revision and practice throughout the entire school year!
