A Christmas Message

Dear Frederica Academy Families,

"And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." - Luke 2: 9-14

May you and your family be blessed as you gather to celebrate the birth of Christ our savior or as you celebrate another faith this holiday season or merely reflect on the final days of 2017.

I'm thankful to attend a school where we are free to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. The spirit of Jesus Christ is alive not just during the Christmas holiday season, but it is alive every day at Frederica. The Jingle Bell Celebration, the Giving Tree Ceremony, and the multitude of school-sponsored community service projects over the past three weeks are just a few examples of the giving spirit of Christmas that fills our campus during December.  And in that same loving spirit, we are encouraged to learn about other religions and to embrace people of other faiths. You will find photos in this newsletter and the December 17 newsletter which show students joyfully participating in our Christmas holiday traditions as well as learning about the eight days of Hanukkah and how it was celebrated during the past two weeks.

We are indeed blessed to be a part of such a loving school community. I feel especially thankful as I soon prepare to walk out the doors of Corn Hall as a graduate of Frederica Academy.  As a second-semester senior, I find myself more reflective now than in past years, and I'm increasingly filled with a thankful heart ... thankful that we are a part of a school community that cares about one another during and after our time at Frederica. I'm thankful for teachers who care about our future and take extra measures to ensure our success. I'm thankful for parents who guide us through exciting, yet sometimes challenging, high school years.

On behalf of the Upper School Student Council and the members of the Class of 2018, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and extend all best wishes to you for a healthy, happy, and joyful New Year!

Kindergarten Snowmen Keepsakes

Kindergarten has a new tradition of creating special snowmen as a keepsake for our families! Ray Snow, Mrs. Manor's father, takes the children's measurements and prepares the boards for the boys and girls to add details to create their own special snowmen. We thank Mr. Snow for his help and hope each family enjoys their unique snowman this Christmas season!

Merry Christmas to all of our precious Kindergarten families!

- Mrs. Butler and Mrs. Manor

Kindergarten Polar Express + PJs

Kindergarten celebrated the holidays together by enjoying a favorite movie, The Polar Express, after reading the story. The children feasted on hot chocolate and treats while also staying busy with various fun activities.  It is always a great day in Kindergarten!
