The Finnish American Chamber of Commerce hosted a casual networking event on October 27th 2016, our Bowling After work. We would like to thank everyone who participated, the event was a blast! Our next event will be our annual Christmas Party on December 2nd, you are all very welcome to celebrate the Holidays with us. We will also have a special award ceremony during the night, where we honour one member with the first Finnish American Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Business Achievement Award.

We also have the honour to announce that we have a new Trustee Member, SAS. Happy to be on board with you! SAS is also the main sponsor for our Christmas Party, sponsoring the grand raffle prize, a round trip ticket Miami-Helsinki.

Slush countdown begins
One of the leading startup conferences in Europe, Slush, is about to bring platefuls of tech professionals into Helsinki this week. What's it about? 

Finnish and Chinese firms partner for pulp mill
News outlets suggest that the pulp mill project is worth 780 million euros. The Chinese company would become the majority owner of the plant, which is to be located in Kemij√§rvi, Lapland. The plant is set to start operating in 2020 with an annual pulp capacity of around 400 000 tonnes, most of which is likely to be sent to China.

Despite Zika and hurricanes, Florida lures record number of tourists
Tourists continue to visit Florida in record numbers during a year that saw two hurricanes hit the state and federal officials warn away pregnant women from Miami due to the Zika virus. Florida Gov.
