FALA Executive Director Community Interview and BBQ - Friday May 25th

This is the FALA community's opportunity to be involved in a community panel format interview with the top two executive director candidates for the permanent ED position at FALA. This will take place on FALA’s campus.

Candidate Bio: Ms. Melissa Bond

Ms. Bond is currently serving as the Principal of the Center of Excellence High School for the Arizona Center for Youth Resources (ACYR) in Phoenix, Arizona and has done so since 2015. She worked for the Mary Lou Fulton’s Teacher College at Arizona State University supervising first year teachers from 2012 to 2015. She has taught high school math from 2009 to 2011 at various public high schools, including Verrado High School in Buckeye, AZ from 2010 to 2013. Prior to her work in education, Ms. Bond was the Assistant Project Manager with American Express from 1999 to 2012. She has a Bachelor’s in Communications from Chapel Hill, NC; a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Ottawa, and is scheduled to complete a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from the Grand Canyon University in May 2018.

Candidate Bio:  Eli Cohen

Mr. Cohen has taken a leave of absence from serving as a Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy (FALA) Board member to serve as the Interim Executive Director for FALA during the 2017-18 school year. He concurrently works as the Program Coordinator for the Civic Service Institute at Northern Arizona University as well as the Human Resource Manager for Hullabaloo Festivals in Flagstaff, Arizona. He has served as treasurer and / or committee member for various local community interests since 2013.   He was a teaching assistant in AP Math from 2014 to 2017 for the Pine Forrest Charter School in Flagstaff. Mr. Cohen served as the Assistant VP for Global Applications Development from 1997 to 2007. He was the National Executive director of the North American Jewish Students’ Network from 1986 to 1987 in Toronto, Canada. Mr. Cohen has a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Manitoba in Actuarial Mathematics.

4 - 5pm - Community interview will take place in a panel format where the audience will have an opportunity to complete comments cards regarding the candidates. These will be shared with the Board of Directors and taken under consideration during the final selection process.

5 - 6pm - BBQ on campus directly afterwards where you'll have the chance to meet and speak with all three final candidates in a more informal setting.
