The great Juan Manuel Fangio's career with Mercedes-Benz was cut short after the factory withdrew from racing after the tragedy at LeMans in 1955.
During that brief two year period (1954-1955), the Maestro won an amazing 11 of 20 races for the German marque including 8 Grand Prix victories (and 2 World Championships) aboard the innovative W196 single seater and three non-championship races with the 300 SLR sports car.
Fangio also finished second behind teammate Stirling Moss in the 1955 Mille Miglia, Tourist Trophy and Targa Florio driving the 300 SLR.
'Fangio & Mercedes-Benz', is a new book by Hartmut Lehbrink published in Germany in 2011 to commemorate the centennial of Fangio's birth. It offers a fresh perspective on this incredibly successful pairing of man and machine. The 192 page hard cover book is well illustrated with more than 170 photographs, many previously unpublished, from the Daimler archives. The text is in both English and German. We hope to have stock early next week.
'Fangio & Mercedes Benz' is priced at $59.95. Reserve your copy HERE.
