The Delayed Onset of Trauma

The common belief about trauma is that once an experience has ended, a person develops symptoms as a result of the event.
Why Do Some People Develop Delayed PTSD?

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a potentially debilitating response to life-threatening events that occurs in a significant minority of adults and children.
How to Cope with Traumatic Events

Any traumatic event—from a personal tragedy to a global crisis—can take an emotional toll and cause traumatic stress. But there are ways to regain control of your life.
The effect of trauma on the brain & how it affects us
In his work with trauma patients, Dr. Rigg has observed how the brain is constantly reacting to sensory information, generating non-thinking reactions before our intelligent individual human brains are able to process the event and formulate a self-driven response.
Don’t wait to register! NAMI National’s two-day virtual convention is dedicated to uplifting, empowering and informing the mental health community with resources, research and support.
