 FBCNP FAMILY NEWSLETTER
July 2016
Greetings from Pastor Jeff

The Fourth of July is a time we as a country celebrate our independence from Great Britain.  A time we remember our founding fathers' labors to carve out a country that had never existed before and was unlike anything the world had ever known.  A time to reflect on the brave men who passionately fought for freedom.  A time to remember that we exist only because of the extreme courage of our founding fathers to stand and to push back against despotism and tyranny. We remember that these men were willing to sacrifice everything including their own belongings, money, land and even their lives to gain the freedom they so desperately wanted and we, in part, still enjoy today.

As amazing as the story of the birth of our country is, it is just a momentary flash compared to the glory of the coming of Jesus Christ, our Savior.  We, who were all once lost and dying, were shackled and controlled by the despotism of our own selves and slaves to every kind of sin. We were destined to live as people who were oppressed by our own broken, fallen, sinful human nature that we acquired from Adam in the fall. But then Jesus came. Jesus came and changed all that. Jesus came and declared that if you believe in Him, He would set you free.

You see, your true Independence Day is not the 4th of July but is when God came and opened your heart to the truth of His Son.  At that moment everything changed in your life.  You were set free from the slavery of sin and liberated
from your broken nature.  You experienced a new birth.  In this new birth, there was freedom from the guilt, shame and consequences of sin.  It was all paid for by Jesus Christ, Gods own Son. That truly is an Independence Day!

Nations will rise and nations will fall, but the Word of God will endure forever. The Word became flesh, and now we who are in Christ are free; those whom the Lord has set free are free indeed!
Happy 4th of July! Thank you to all who have sacrificed for this country. But praise be to God for Jesus, who truly gave me my true independence!

Be Strong and Courageous,

Pastor Jeff
