Meals of Hope

Meals of Hope food packages*, which are distributed by its accredited food bank partners, offer more than nutrition. To a child who is dealing with the stress and insecurity of not knowing how or when they will receive their next meal,  a comforting bowl of Macaroni and Cheese or Beans and Rice (both fortified with soy protein and 21 vitamins and minerals), provides a bit of hope to carry them through another day.  All meals that are packed by sponsors and volunteers are provided to recipients free of charge through well-established food banks throughout the United States.

This year FCCLA will be hosting this event. Below is the website that you can personalize to reach out for contributions to help Ohio FCCLA meet a goal of 70,000 meals. The packing event will be from 9:00 - 11:00 on Thursday, April 23rd at State Leadership Conference. More details will be in next week's Ohio Family and Consumer Sciences newsletter.  Here is more information on Meals of Hope.

Culinary Arts and Lodging Students

For the fourth consecutive year, the Office of Career-Technical Education will select one exemplar graduating senior from each of 15 career fields.  The difference for the Class of 2015 is that we are partnering with the Ohio Association for Career Technical Education with the added benefit that two of our 15 honorees will receive the $1,000 Darrell Parks Scholarship.  All 15 will receive certificates of recognition from Superintendent of Public Instruction Richard A. Ross. The 15 also will be feature in a visual presentation during the association's conference this summer, among other visibility opportunities in FY2016.  To learn more and download the scholarship application form (called Darrell Parks Student Scholarship in honor of a former state office director), click here.  Submission deadline is March 15, 2015.
