ALL ABOARD THE TRAIN FOR DENVER!
Bill Caruso, FFCSI (PP)
How time flies! Another year with great growth in FCSI, and a time committed to review, reinvigorate and gain excitement because our conference is quickly approaching......and my hometown of Denver is the host! I have lived  in Denver for 37 years now (and before that, a stint doing both some undergraduate and graduate work at two of its great universities in the 60's - Yikes - I'm gett ing old, folks!), but I can say in all truth that it's a wonderful place and you need to make sure you're with us this April!

16th Street Mall has shops, restaurants, entertainment, and the Free Mall Ride, all just around the corner from the FCSI Conference Host Hotel. Photograph by Steve Crecelius and VISIT DENVER
Remember Phoenix and Nashville? Both great conferences, great fun and lots of educational information - will Denver prove to be equal to the high bar that these past events set? I am positive of this and I know that our upcoming conference will be one of the best ever! The Worldwide FCSI Board will be there, as well as The Americas Board, along with many industry colleagues, meetings and of course, important educational events that will take place. Denver is easy to get to and won't break the bank. The educational agenda speaks for itself and it will invigorate everyone and motivate each person attending. The social events planned are outstanding! I have been to most of the social function sites and I know you'll love them, for sure! During the Conference, we will honor our newest Council of Fellows inductees, which will reunite many of our leaders over the years with new, deserving inductees, and best of all, you get to mingle with industry friends and colleagues in the rarified air of sunny Colorado! What more can I say except I hope all of you can take advantage of this great opportunity and I look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones very soon...in my great hometown!

See all of you soon!

All my best,

William Caruso, FFCSI (PP)
Chair, FCSI The Americas

CPSTA TO HAVE 2018 FISPAL  PRESENCE
Connie Dickson, FCSI
CPSTA Leader
It was fall 2016, and CPSTA was working hard on pathways for Professional membership, soon to be available in Portuguese, Spanish and French. Two Brazilian colleagues, Emmanuel Melo and Raoni Saade, agreed to help CPSTA with a successful launch in Latin America. Throughout 2017, Emmanuel and Raoni helped CPSTA understand foodservice consulting in Brazil and its challenges, while CPSTA helped Emmanuel and Raoni understand the standards, procedures and core competencies on which FCSI professional membership is based.
Inspired by their immersion in CPSTA, Emmanuel and Raoni developed a 2017 strategic plan for FCSI membership in Latin America that delivered remarkable results. And by the end of the year, both achieved FCSI Professional membership and became official members of CPSTA!
For 2018, Emmanuel and Raoni recommended that CPSTA send a representative to the Fispal trade show this June to deliver a key message: FCSI differentiates consultants through its standards and values, and Doug Huber, FCSI agreed to present this message. FCSI's mission extends beyond the show, and includes a presentation to FCSI and non-FCSI consultants, trips to equipment manufacturers, and multiple networking events. FCSI The Americas' Board of Trustees reviewed the Fispal plan and wholeheartedly supports its goals. Stay tuned for an update on the outcomes!
The Council for Professional Standards - The Americas (CPSTA) sets standards of performance for professional FCSI-TA consultants, administers core competencies set by FCSI WW, and measures performance for core competencies.
