DE-STRESS and did I hear EAT??? Join our alumni potluck!

Need a study break after midterms?Want to catch up with friends or make new ones? It's never too late to kick off the quarter by de-stressing and chowing down with Preuss alums! The Preuss Alumni Association (PAA) at UCSD will be hosting a potluck during Week 8. Join them for a relaxed evening with fun activities put together by the PAA Board (pictured above). Bring your college stories and food to share! Everyone is welcome! Please contact Amaris if you have any questions.

Summer Puente, Duke University '11
Can you hike 14,505 feet high? Summer sure did! She accomplished a 22 day backpacking trip from Yosemite National Park to Mt. Whitney. "I hope to continue working with outdoor education, and making these types of activities more accessible to low income and first-generation students!" - Summer 
Alejandro Fuentes, Whitman College '13
Alejandro (or Alex) loves his current job teaching elementary school students through Teach for America, Colorado. He hopes to teach at the high school level. "Who knows, life might come back full circle and I might end up teaching at Preuss at some point in my future." - Alex
Monika Langarica, UC Berkeley School of Law '14 
Monika is a champion in her field of law. She's interned at the San Francisco Public Defender's Office, and was named a SF La Raza Lawyers' Association Social Justice Fellow. She is pursuing her passion working at the San Diego Public Defender's Office. 
Cesar Vargas, Pitzer College '14
After graduating last spring, Cesar embarked on a research project looking into health disparities through the 2014-2015 Fulbright Research Award in Spain. He got a photo with King of Spain, Felipe VI in the background!
Minh Tran, Dartmouth Geisel School of Medicine '18
Minh has a dream to become a physician to serve the needs of undeserved communities. "I wish to contribute to both service and research that help to gap the minority health disparities, specifically in the field of oncology." - Minh 
Christopher Ly, San Diego State University '14
Christopher's passion in physical  therapy has him working at 24 Hour Fitness as a Personal Trainer! He hopes to become a Strength and Conditioning  coach for a collegiate or professional sports team in the future.

Connect 2 Work Internships
PAID INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS in San Diego for students ages 17-21:
The Connect2Work program offers a $10 a hour internship for up to 100 hours at multiple placements like the YMCA, Cox, and UCSD. They also assist with providing supportive services like bus passes, interview clothes, and incentives for participating in the program. Click here for more information.
