April 2012 National Employment and Unemployment Information 

The national unemployment rate was 8.1 percent in April 2012, down 0.1 percentage point from the March rate of 8.2 percent and down 0.9 percentage point from 9.0 percent a year ago. Read On

  

Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance Mid-Year Meeting Features New Jobs Announcements, Bloomberg Radio Host Kathleen Hays, AutoNation Chairman Mike Jackson, and Presentation of World Class Faculty Award

This resulted in 780 new value added jobs, 943 retained jobs and more than $9 million in new capital investment.   The announcement was made by Alliance Chairman J. David Armstrong, Jr., president of Broward College.

Florida SBDCs Key to Helping Florida Businesses Continue Positive Growth

This includes more and more businesses seeking to hire new employees, less facing lay-offs, and more small businesses able to obtain capital. Healthcare IT Company to Locate on Space Coast, Creating 190 Jobs
BlueWare, Inc., a Michigan-based information technology company, plans to relocate its operations to Melbourne, Florida, as part of a $5 million capital investment expected to create an estimated 190 jobs over the next four years. Read On
